By accessing or using Poetic Goblin ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Platform.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are between 13 and 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the Platform. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has created an account, we will delete it promptly.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password. One person, one account — alternate accounts created to circumvent bans, manipulate engagement, or harass users will be removed. You may not transfer, sell, or share your account credentials with any other person.
You retain ownership of original content you create on Poetic Goblin, including characters, stories, art, campaign logs, and comments ("Your Content"). By posting Your Content, you grant Poetic Goblin a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute Your Content solely for the purpose of operating and promoting the Platform. This license ends when you delete Your Content from the Platform.
You represent that you have the right to post any content you share. Do not post content you did not create or do not have permission to share. If you reference or create fan art based on existing works, credit the original creators.
The Annals of Elysal is a shared, community-built fantasy world. Contributions to the Annals operate under different terms than general posts:
By submitting a story, lore entry, or other content to the Annals of Elysal, you agree to license that contribution under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) license.
This means:
Anyone may read, share, remix, adapt, and build upon your Annals contribution — including other users, game masters, writers, and Poetic Goblin itself — for any purpose, including commercial use, so long as they provide attribution and share derivative works under the same license.
You retain authorship credit. Your username will always be associated with your contribution.
You cannot later revoke this license or claim exclusive rights over Annals contributions. Once contributed, your story becomes part of the shared world of Elysal.
You can still delete your contribution from the Platform. However, copies that others have already made under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license remain valid.
If you do not wish your work to be shared under these terms, do not contribute to the Annals. You may instead post stories, lore, and worldbuilding as regular posts, which remain under the standard content license in Section 4.
The core lore, timeline, ages, locations, and canonical characters of the World of Elysal are the intellectual property of Poetic Goblin and its creators. Community contributions supplement and expand the world but do not grant contributors ownership over pre-existing Elysal lore.
Poetic Goblin is committed to maintaining a welcoming, inclusive environment for all fantasy fans regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or national origin.
The following are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate content removal and potential account suspension or permanent ban:
Hate speech: Content that attacks, demeans, or incites violence against individuals or groups based on protected characteristics including race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or serious medical condition.
Harassment & bullying: Targeted abuse, threats, intimidation, doxxing (sharing someone's private information), or sustained unwanted contact directed at specific users.
Slurs & dehumanizing language: Use of slurs, dehumanizing comparisons, or coded language intended to demean protected groups — whether directed at another user or used "in character" as part of roleplay.
Extremist content: Content that promotes, glorifies, or recruits for real-world hate groups, terrorist organizations, or violent ideologies.
Sexually explicit content: Pornographic images, graphic sexual descriptions, or sexual content involving minors in any form.
Real-world violence: Content that promotes, threatens, or glorifies real-world violence against any person or group.
Spam & manipulation: Spam, scams, phishing, misleading content, or coordinated manipulation of Platform features.
A note on mature themes in fantasy: We recognize that fantasy storytelling can include dark themes such as war, conflict, moral ambiguity, and villainy. Content exploring these themes through fiction and worldbuilding is generally permitted, provided it does not cross into gratuitous hate speech, real-world extremism, or content designed to demean real people. When in doubt, err on the side of empathy.
Enforcement: We use a combination of automated moderation and human review. Violations may result in content removal, a warning, temporary suspension, or permanent account termination at our sole discretion. Severity, intent, and pattern of behavior are all considered. Users who repeatedly test the boundaries of these policies will be treated as acting in bad faith.
If you encounter content that violates these Terms, use the in-app report feature. You can also block users you do not wish to interact with. We review all reports and take action as appropriate, though we cannot guarantee a specific outcome or timeline for every report.
We respect the intellectual property rights of others and expect our users to do the same.
If you believe that content on Poetic Goblin infringes your copyright, you may submit a takedown notice to poeticgoblin@gmail.com with the following information:
1. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
2. Identification of the material on Poetic Goblin that you claim is infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it.
3. Your contact information (name, address, email, phone number).
4. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
5. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
6. Your physical or electronic signature.
Upon receiving a valid DMCA notice, we will remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material and notify the user who posted it. Repeat infringers will have their accounts terminated.
Poetic Goblin is an independent, fan-created platform. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Wizards of the Coast, Hasbro, or any other tabletop game publisher. "Dungeons & Dragons," "D&D," and all related trademarks are the property of Wizards of the Coast LLC. Other trademarks referenced on this platform are the property of their respective owners. Any use of these trademarks on Poetic Goblin is for descriptive and fan-community purposes only and does not imply any affiliation or endorsement.
Poetic Goblin's original content — including the World of Elysal, its lore, timeline, canonical characters, visual assets, and platform code — is the intellectual property of Poetic Goblin and its creators.
Poetic Goblin may contain user-generated content that includes fantasy violence, mature themes, and language typical of tabletop roleplaying communities. While we enforce community standards, we cannot review every piece of content before it is published. Users should exercise discretion. Parents and guardians should be aware that the Platform may contain content not suitable for young children.
Poetic Goblin is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. We are not responsible for user-generated content, and the views expressed by users do not represent the views of Poetic Goblin.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Poetic Goblin and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, at our sole discretion and without prior notice. You may delete your account at any time through your settings. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall be resolved in accordance with applicable law.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify users through an announcement on the Platform. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
